Derelict building set alight in Newhaven

A derelict building was set on fire in Newhaven yesterday afternoon (Wednesday, April 27).

Two fire crews from Newhaven attended the scene, on Western Road, at around 3.22pm.

Crews confirmed smoke issuing on arrival and used breathing apparatus and one hose reel jet to extinguish the fire.

Firefighters ventilated the area and a fire investigation concluded that the cause was deliberate.

Firefighters left the scene at 4:52pm.
