Design concepts for future of Broadbridge Heath all set to be unveiled

Proposals for changes to the heart of Broadbridge Heath are to be shown to the public next week as the major part of the parish council's annual parish meeting.

Viv Edwards, Broadbridge Heath Parish Council chairman, said: “Broadbridge Heath has undergone major development over the last few years and we want to give all the residents a chance to see and comment on what is being proposed to enhance the public spaces and buildings to support this development.

“A new Neighbourhood Centre will be built by the end of 2017 and, with the through traffic being moved to the new east-west link road, there may be an opportunity to remove the leylandi hedges and open up and landscape the land between the Neighbourhood Centre and Village Centre buildings.

“The Village Centre building itself will be enhanced and traffic calming will be put in place in the old part of the village to deter through-traffic from rat running. We would like to show our residents what might happen and give them the opportunity to discuss the proposals with the providers and give their feedback.”

West Sussex County Council will show drawings of the traffic calming around Billingshurst and Old Guildford roads which is due to be built by the end of this year, and Horsham District Council will display some early concepts for the new landscaping.

Action in Rural Sussex will show the results of the questionnaire that asked what the community would like for the improvements to the Village Centre building and there will be early designs for the art installations that will be in front of the Neighbourhood Centre and distributed around the south of the village.

The meeting on Monday May 16 will start at 7.30pm at The Village Centre, Wickhurst Lane. Entrance is free and refreshments will be provided.
