'Devastating' housing plan for Selsey

RESIDENTS and wildlife groups believe plans to build 370 homes in Selsey will have a 'devastating effect' on the town.

Pye Homes wants to build the homes, as well as some offices, a 100-bed nursing home, a leisure centre and at least one shop as part of its Phase II development project in the north of the town.

The Campaign Against Over-Development In Selsey (CAODIS) group was formed this year to put a stop to Pye Homes' plans.

"Do people want to come to Selsey as a quaint village or as a dormitory town?" said Richard Bramall of CAODIS.

An outline planning application has been sent in to Chichester District Council (CDC). Up to 370 homes, a care home, a children's play area, offices, a retail unit and an open space have been planned.
