Developers First Base and partners Patron Capital will hold workshops on March 2 and March 9 from 12 to 4pm at the Tarner Community Project, in Tarner Park.

Residents who live on Blaker Street, White Street and the wider Tarner neighbourhood are invited to take part to share their stories, memories and photographs of the area.

Information gathered will help to influence the design of a public space at the site, which was formerly Amex House.

First Base has commissioned designer Richard Wolfstrome to help design the public area and deliver the development’s public art strategy.

He said: “We’d like to draw out the spirit of the community, allowing residents to influence the themes and narratives for the artwork at the site so that the public realm will meaningfully connect the local community to the development.”

Edward Street Quarter is said to be the largest commercial development in central Brighton for the past 25 years, with construction set to begin this summer.

Spokesman for First Base Ronan-Chlond said: “We’ve already heard some incredible anecdotes, from the Blitz, through to Turner and the area’s ’fisher folk’ heritage.

"We’re looking forward to hearing many more from the residents of White Street, Blaker Street, the Tarner neighbourhood, Dorset Gardens, Queens Park and beyond – this is your opportunity to share your stories.”
