Malcolm Allan is a diamond geezer from Walberton. He is auctioning a unique piece of jewellery worth £1,600 at a charity event at the village's Hilton Avisford Park Hotel. The event, on September 4, combines a golf day and a champagne and diamonds ball.

It is sponsored by ethical jewellery firm Cred, which has designed a one-off diamond, aquamarine and tourmaline pendant in yellow gold as the star lot

The day will be raising money for DebRA '“ which helps people with the rare and painful skin condition epidermolysis bullosa '“ and the hotel chain's charitable arm, the Hilton in the Community Foundation.

Malcolm Allan, the hotel's manager, said: "It should be a fantastic day of golf, a very special evening and a great way for everyone associated with our hotel to get together in support of two very good causes. When local businesses like our hotel and Cred Jewellers join forces, there really is opportunity for both a great event and a chance to make a real difference to children in need of our help."

Victoria Field, DebRA's communications manager, said: "We are delighted to be working with Hilton in organising this prestigious event. The money raised will ensure DebRA can continue its vital work, providing nursing and social care for affected families and funding research to find effective treatments for this appalling condition."

The golf day and champagne and diamonds ball will combine lunch and a round of four ball golf at the hotel's course followed by the ball.

Guests are invited to attend one or both the events. All proceeds will be divided between DebRa and the foundation.
