Other guests included Arundel and South Downs MP Nick Herbert and the Bishop of Chichester, the Rt Rev Dr Martin Warner.

Speaking of the evening, the duchess said she was ‘delighted’ to welcome the supporters of the cause to the castle.

“Depaul works around the world to help people in difficult situations to keep safe and steer away from a life on the streets and I am proud to be patron of this important charity,” she said. “It is essential that Depaul continues to reach more young people and adults every year, especially as financial crises and armed conflict put more people at risk of homelessness every year.

“Depaul’s work in Ukraine is particularly crucial, as thousands of refugees are fleeing their homes. I hope the evening will encourage many to join our cause to tackle homelessness to help people move towards a brighter future.”
