Discussion over anti-social fears in Bersted

Police inspector Clare McKnight has met Bersted parish council members to discuss their concerns about anti-social behaviour.

The session was arranged after the Observer reported complaints from the councillors that they were being ignored and their residents forced to endure unacceptable levels of yobbery.

Insp McKnight described the meeting as productive. She said: "The councillors highlighted their concerns to me and I intend to ensure we have a continuing dialogue.

"In turn, I am looking to place resources in the area '“ when staffing levels permit '“ to deal with some of the anti-social behaviour.

"A key point for me was the fact residents are not reporting incidents to the police. Therefore, we don't have the full picture.

"It is important they do report the matter to the police so we can have all the information and ensure staff are patrolling at the key times."
