UCKFIELD AND DISTRICT Lions Club celebrated their change of president at the Halland Forge last Sunday. Retiring president Caroline Hicks passed the chain of office to Graham Russell for the coming year.
Graham thanked Caroline for being an excellent president. Caroline’s year had several success stories with the Lions’ first ever fun run, the monthly pub quizzes at the Pig and Butcher, the classic car rally in September, (the biggest and best so far) and the raffle of Easter eggs in pubs which was added to the Lions’ fund raising activities for the first time.
The Lions’ secondhand book shop at Bridge Cottage has become well established during the last year and is now a major contributor to funds.
With all the money raised, Uckfield Lions were able to support even more good causes, with several new organisations being supported for the first time.
Uckfield & District Lions Club are starting a membership drive and invite community minded people of all ages to join them in fund raising.
Anyone interested in joining or just wanting to help can contact them through their website: www.uckfield-lions.org.uk or by ringing Graham on 01825 762065.
