Ditchling

Ditchling Parish Council: looks forward to an exciting term to 2019, when we will see: the adoption of the Ditchling, Streat and Westmeston Neighourhood Plan, shaping development in our community to 2030. This includes the construction of at least fifteen new homes and further development of our sporting and recreational facilities. Do you think Ditchling needs a new sports pavilion, a second tennis court, a new car park, an overhaul of the children's playground, a boules court? These are just some of the suggestions put forward in the Neighbourhood Plan. To put the plan into action a full complement of enthusiastic and committed Parish Councillors is required. There are eleven seats on the Parish Council and currently eight members. We therefore appeal to you to consider becoming a councillor and standing for co-option.

Becoming a Councillor: do you want to contribute your professional skills to help your local community? Do you want to make a difference for your local community? Do you want to speak on behalf of local people? If you can answer yes to any of these questions, then maybe you should consider standing for co-option as a councillor. To stand as a councillor in Ditchling you need to be at least 18 years old, a British, Irish, EU or Commonwealth citizen and registered asa local government elector in Ditchling or have lived or had your principle place of work in the borough for 12 months, or have been an owner or tenant in Ditchling for at least 12 months before standing and resident within 3 miles of Ditchling for 12 months. The best way to find out more about the Parish Council is to attend one of our meetings, on the last Monday of the month. You can find full details on the website or Parish Council noticeboards. www.ditchlingpc.org.uk

Scoop that Poop: Ditchling Parish Council asks all dog owners to pick up and remove faeces left by dogs under their control. Dog faeces should be removed immediately from all pavements, roads, verges and recreational areas and the maximum fine for non-compliance is £1,000. There are strong health reasons for these regulations and the Parish Council would urge all people responsible for dogs to always carry the means for collecting and safely disposing of faeces. Two more dog bins have been ordered and are expected to arrive in the next few weeks.
