A respected artist whose work is owned by rock star Eric Clapton and the Duke of Richmond is hoping to raise half a million pounds for a children’s charity by donating pieces of his art for auction.

Paul Brown, 48, from Ditchling, is lending his support to Starlight Children’s Foundation, the UK’s leading wish granting charity for children and young people with serious and terminal illness.

A self-taught artist, Paul has already raised an incredible £350,000 for Starlight and he doesn’t want to stop there.

He has been donating paintings to Starlight for auction since 2001 and his works have fetched as much as £44,000 at the charity’s fundraising events.

Paul said: “Some people donate money or their time to charity, others use their talent to help.

“I’m very proud that I can use my talent to contribute to such a fantastic charity.

“I’ve already raised over a quarter of a million for Starlight and I want to double this figure over the coming years so I can continue to help bring some much-needed fun and laughter to very poorly children.

“I think it’s really important for people to realise that it’s not just money that can help Starlight but their time and talent, too.”

Paul has been painting professionally since 1992.

He is an impressionist painter and his subject matter is wide ranging, including portraits, landscapes, scenes of London, Venice, Paris and New York, as well as coastal scenes, and paintings of children.

Chief executive of Starlight Children’s Foundation, Neil Swan, said: “It’s truly staggering that Paul has raised such an amazing amount for Starlight over the years.

“He has an incredible talent and we are hugely grateful for his continued support.

“The money raised from his much-admired collections at fundraising events has enabled Starlight to transform the lives of very many seriously and terminally ill children across the UK.”

Starlight grants once-in-a-lifetime wishes for seriously and terminally ill children, restoring the magic and fun of childhood and giving the whole family happy memories to share, whatever the future holds.

Starlight also creates entertainment in every hospital and hospice throughout the UK.

Paul is currently working on paintings for Starlight’s next fundraising event which takes place at Newbury Racecourse in May. To see his work visit www.sanguine-fine-art.co.uk.
