Divers help clean Hastings aquarium tank

Divers took the plunge in Blue Reef Aquarium’s 130,000 litre tropical ocean tank to do some underwater spring cleaning.

Blue Reef’s Leanna Lawson said: “The display is actually cleaned on a daily basis by our team of aquarists.

“However, from time to time, we need to get divers in to clean specific areas at the bottom of the display and sometimes help move some of the natural theming about.

“The tropical reef looks absolutely spectacular and it’s the divers’ job to ensure that, whether you’re looking at it from the giant ocean window, inside the underwater walkthrough tunnel or the glass cave, there are no annoying smudges to spoil the view.

“It‘s not every day that you go recruiting for underwater window cleaners but Patrick Shier from Exclusively Scuba undertook the task.

“Our volunteer divers have worked with us for many years and we are so happy for their help”
