DLWP Coast award

The De La Warr Pavilion has been named Best Seaside Landmark Building.

The building won a Coast award for its striking exterior and the 'inclusive nature' of what was on offer inside, with a broad programme to encourage tourists and entertain locals alike.

The Coast Awards, launched last year, were established to recognise people and places that represent all that is innovative, valuable and exciting around the British coastline.

This year's Coast Awards nominations came in the hundreds, from every part of the UK.

Coast magazine tallied them up to find readers' top spots for 'Best British Beach' and 'All-Round Seaside Holiday Destination', and then put top-scoring nominations for the remaining categories to an expert judging panel, including Coast editor Clare Gogerty, Jo Fairley, Mark Osterfield, Deborah Lamb, Andy Cummins, Ruth Watson, Alex Wade, Dr Jonathan Foyle and Miranda Krestovnikoff.

Coast editor Clare Gogerty says: "The standard of nominations and the animated judging of this year's Awards proves what we already knew on Coast: the British seaside is an exciting, lively and relevant place. If people are looking for things to do and see at the coast, our winners are a great place to start."
