Nearly 200 people descended on the Dome Cinema, in Marine Parade, Worthing, to see Scottish actor Peter Capaldi debut as the Time Lord.

Sue Daddak, general manager of The Dome, said: “It was great. I think it was a very good atmosphere. It was a good room to have it in to help with the ambience.

“Everybody seemed really happy when they came out. Lots of kids turned out and there were lots of happy faces which is always a good sign.”

Reaction to Capaldi’s Doctor has been largely positive in the media. The 55-year-old is a departure from the last few doctors, each of which has been considerably younger.

Sue said: “I think he’s a very good choice. He’s older, he’s different – it will be an interesting change.”

The Dome’s foyer was filled with Dr Who memorabilia, including a full-size Tardis and Daleks, courtesy of Type 40 Toys.

“The fact we were able to have the Daleks was absolutely brilliant,” said Sue. “They put in a lot of effort.”
