Does talent show's Matt also have the Bex-Factor?

MATT Cardle's victory on TV talent show The X Factor may owe something to his mother's prowess on stage at Bexhill.

Before she married David Cardle, Jenny Horner was a prominent and vivacious young actress with Bexhill Amateur Theatrical Society.

Jenny was brought up at the family home in De La Warr Road and briefly attended St Richard’s School.

Her passion was performing and she made a number of appearances in plays at the De La Warr Pavilion in the late 1960s and early 1970s. She also appeared at The Stables Theatre in Hastings.

David and Jenny, now living in Essex, gave Matt every encouragement to achieve his dream of becoming a successful singer.

At the weekend nearly 20 million viewers tuned in to see Matt, 27, grab the glory spot on The X Factor.

The accolades flowed from judges Simon Cowell, Louis Walsh, Danni Minogue and Cheryl Cole.

Matt’s debut single, When We Collide, is expected to sell half a million copies this week to become the Christmas No 1. Reports put his potential earnings next year at £5million.

Jenny’s cousin and fellow actress, Barbara Elms, of Little Common, said: “We are all delighted for Matt and his family and wish them every success.”
