Dog Day promotes pride in Arun's parks

Four legged friends and their owners enjoyed a Dog Day Afternoon at Brookfield Park in Littlehampton.

On Thursday, April 21, a string of events for both canines and humans to enjoy were hosted at the park.

This included dog training demonstrations, free microchip scanning, and free goody bags.

Cllr Mick Warren, who represents Brookfield Ward on Arun District Council, attended the event.

He said: “It was a great afternoon.

“One of the main aims of the event was to encourage local residents to form a community group to take pride in the park, and there was a lot of interest in doing this.

“We would like to thank everyone who turned up.”

The Brookfield Park Dog Day was jointly organised by the Parks and Environmental Health teams at Arun District Council, with the aim of encouraging residents to take pride in their park.

Cllr Terence Chapman, Arun District Council’s Cabinet Member for Environmental Services, said: “We hope the event has helped to highlight the problem of dog fouling and owners who may not be fully in control of their dogs in the park,

“We don’t want to penalise responsible dog owners, but we do want to tackle the minority who make it difficult for others to enjoy the parks we have in Arun.”
