Dog lovers show support for Bognor Regis charity

The money was handed over at the Bognor Regis and District Dog Training Club’s annual Christmas party.

A cheque for £1,000 from the club’s latest annual companion dog show was given to Steve Ball, the chairman of the Lowland Search Dogs – Sussex, and his dog Jeff.

Another cheque for the same amount went to Jean Harbut and Priscilla Cady, from the Mount Noddy animal rescue centre, as a result of club member Nick Thompson’s 100-mile sponsored cycle ride.

The party at Felpham Memorial Village Hall began with the traditional fun event of the dogs’ fancy dress.

This was won by a lurcher called Bella, who was dressed as a school girl, and is owned by Christopher Sargent.

The star of the hunt the sausage competition was the newest recruit to the Lowland Search Dogs, 13-week-old border collie Cain, who found it in record time.

Training sessions will start again on January 5 and 6 at the hall on Vicarage Lane. Times depend on the class attended. New members are welcome and can enjoy their first session free of charge to give them the chance to try it out first without any obligation.

The club has been training dogs and owners for more than 40 years, and is affiliated to the Kennel Club of Great Britain.
