Sixty-two dogs and their owners met at the pier at noon to protest against rules banning dogs from the recently-opened structure during the summer months.

Well-behaved dogs on leads are allowed onto the pier during the off-peak season (September 30 - April 30) but not during the peak summer months, starting from today (May 1).

However assistance dogs are always welcome.

Dog owners who took part in yesterday’s protest say they hope the demonstration will lead to the Hastings Pier Charity reconsidering its policy on pooches.
