Dogs attack sheep

A SHEEP has been seriously injured after being attacked by two dogs in Robertsbridge.

The pair savaged the animal on a farm in Brightling Road on Sunday. One, an Alsatian, was shot dead.

The sheep is currently being treated, although it is not known whether it will survive.

The shooting comes two months after another Alsatian was shot at a farm in Northiam when it bothered a flock of sheep and turned on a farmer.

That dog was believed to be responsible for an attack on a flock of sheep in Sedlescombe on November 3, leaving two ewes dead and eight with serious injuries.

Five days later, 13 more sheep were killed in another bloody frenzy in a field off Marley Lane in Battle.

Another was left critical, ten were bitten and two missing.

Both attacks took place close to the Great Battle Woods, popular with dog walkers.

Police could not confirm the dog shot in Northiam was responsible for the attacks in Battle and Sedlescombe, although they say it was a likely culprit.

Police have put up posters at beauty spots around the area reminding dog owners to take responsibility for their animals when walking.
