Dormice proving elusive

A SECOND brood of Sedge Warblers are being fed by mum and dad at the far end of the Tranquil Trail near Wetland Discovery.

The Little Grebes are still incubating their eggs at the far end of the Wetlands Discovery area. As soon as the chicks hatch we will reopen the far end of the area to our electric boat traffic.

Another small wave of Pheasant chicks and Mallard ducklings are out on the reserve during this week.

This month's Dormouse survey again showed no take up on any of the boxes and only one male in one of the survey tubes which has been used regularly since last year.

One other tube had a tiny adult Pygmy Shrew nesting inside.
