Double for enterprising students.

The team, called ‘The Broomham Trading Company’ have set-up their own company, held fund raising events in order to buy stock, conduct market research, set up accounts with wholesalers and have held two very successful fairs at Priory Meadows and a trade fair in Brighton.

The aim is to get some hands-on business experience and do well in the Sussex Young Enterprise competition against other schools.

Showing great business acumen, the team bought in seasonal products, priced competitively that sold really well at both fairs.

Also on sale were handmade African craft items made in Swaziland where the school have a study centre and charity project, helping communities become self-sufficient through crop production and the work at the Good Shepherd Hospital for children with AIDS.

All the profits from this year’s competition will go to the charity.

At both fairs, the team’s hard work was recognised, winning the highly prized Mystery Shopper Award.

Buckswood Headteacher, Mark Redsell said: “It is great to see our scholars putting their studies into practice and winning awards too! I am very proud of the Broomhall Trading Company Team and applaud their efforts and know that the money they raise through their endeavours will help many young people in Swaziland”.
