Dragons set for Littlehampton once again

DRAGON boat racing roars into Littlehampton again on Sunday, August 5, as teams battle it out to be the fastest on the River Arun.

Held opposite The Arun View pub, the racing starts at 10.30am and continues until around 4pm.

Among the teams ready to take on the 250-metre course are The Body Shop, The Arun View, Littlehampton Swimming and Sports Centre, Spokes Cycles, the RNLI and Littlehampton Rugby Club.

While the battle rages on the water, on dry land there will be stalls and a barbecue for the spectators to enjoy.

There will also be a raffle to win a bike supplied by Spokes.

All proceeds will go to the RNLI.

Organiser Keith Croft said: "It's shaping up to be another superb day of racing.

"We've got some strong teams confirmed and it's going to be a great spectacle.

"We chose the RNLI as the beneficiary of the event as they do a fantastic job and one which people living around here really appreciate.

"They do on the water what the ambulance service, fire brigade and police force do on dry land and we felt that they were a more than worthy cause."

Any teams of 16-20 people who still want to enter should call Keith Croft on 07932 176051 or Paul Crease on 01903 722335.
