A Lewes schoolgirl saw her dreams come true as she got to interview Chris Pratt, the star of upcoming blockbuster Jurassic World.
Emily Hawkins-Smith was chosen by Mr Pratt’s agent to question the Hollywood actor ahead of the much-anticipated release of Jurassic World on Thursday, June 11.
Emily, a Lewes Grammar School pupil, has been tasked with writing a child’s review of the movie for national agency, the Press Association.
The nine-year-old was joined by mum Victoria and 10-year-old sister Holly to watch the journalists’ showing of the film in London before sitting down with the high-profile actor at the Press Junket in the Mandarin Oriental Hotel, Knightsbridge.
Victoria Hawkins-Smith said: “She got this opportunity after Chris Pratt’s agent chose her. Her name was put forward from a lady named Chloe Chubb, who works for a PR company in London called Grapevine. She passed on her details to The Press Association and they forwarded Emily’s details, amongst others, to his agent.
“Emily loves Jurassic Park, so this was a dream come true for her. She was beyond excited and also very grateful.”
Emily kicked off the interview by asking the American actor which dinosaur is his favourite. When he responded with “the velociraptor”, she said: “I thought you were going to say the T-Rex because it’s awesome and it eats people.”
She also asks what it felt like to have his life saved by a girl, as happens to his character in the upcoming movie, and for the actor’s best dinosaur impression.
After the interview, he said: “It was a really nice interview - my favourite one so far.”
After the experience, Emily said: “I thought the film was amazing, it’s definitely my favourite one out of them all, it has action right from the start.
“Chris Pratt was really nice, he made me feel like I had known him for ages.
“I think he is funny and very easy to talk to, interviewing him was awesome.
“I feel so lucky to have been given this opportunity, it was an amazing experience. I was nervous waiting to go in but as soon as I sat down that went away and I was just so happy to be interviewing Chris.”
Chris Pratt has starred in many hit films, including The Guardians of the Galaxy, Zero Dark Thirty, Bride Wars, Moneyball and The Lego Movie, as well as appearing in TV series Parks and Recreation.
He plays Owen in Jurassic World, which is set 22 years after the events of Jurassic Park and features a fully-functioning dinosaur theme park.
