Drink-drive motorists banned and fined

Two local motorists from Eastbourne have been disqualified from driving and fined after being convicted as part of Sussex Police's crackdown on drink- and drug-driving.

Adam Walder, 28, a computer consultant, of Gilbert Road, Eastbourne, , was arrested in Little London Road, Horam, on December 17 and charged with driving with 51mg of alcohol per 100ml of breath in his system. The legal limit is 35mg.

He pleaded guilty at Hastings Magistrates’ Court on January 6 and was disqualified from driving for 12 months. He was also ordered to pay a £350 fine, £85 costs and a £35 victim surcharge.

Jessica Langstreth, 18, a bar worker, of St Annes Road in Willingdon, was arrested in Wannock Road, Polegate, on December 19 and charged with driving with 68mg of alcohol per 100ml of breath in her system and driving with no insurance.

She pleaded guilty at Hastings Magistrates’ Court on January 6 and was disqualified from driving for 17 months. She was also ordered to pay a total of £400 in fines, £85 costs and a £20 victim surcharge.
