Driver banned and fined over motorist's death

AN Albourne man was found guilty of careless driving after an accident that led to the death of a Horsham motorist.

Graham Glyn (56) was driving his Toyota Corolla in Henfield Road, Albourne, when he collided with a Reliant Robin being driven by 60-year-old Victor Backshall.

As a result of the accident in November 2006, Mr Backshall, of Bennetts Road, died from his injuries at the scene.

Glyn, of Henfield Road, had been waiting at the junction with Twineham Lane and turned across the path of Mr Backshall's car as it came towards him.

Both vehicles collided head-on.

In a three-day trial at Hove Crown Court last week, Glyn was disqualified from driving for 12 months and fined 1,500.
