Driver more than three times drink-drive limit banned

A driver who was more than three times the drink-drive limit has been banned from the roads.

Marc Oakden, a manager, of Chandlers Field Drive in Haywards Heath, was arrested in Brighton Road, Crawley, on December 12.

The 48-year-old was charged with driving with 121mcg of alcohol per 100ml of breath in his system, the legal limit is 35.

He pleaded guilty at Crawley Magistrates’ Court on January 5 and was disqualified from driving for 29 months.

Oakden was also ordered to carry out 120 hours of unpaid work, pay £85 costs and a £60 victim surcharge.

John Monks, a government employee, of Sugworth Close in Haywards Heath, was arrested in Mill Green Road, Haywards Heath, on December 17.

The 47-year-old was charged with driving with 58mcg of alcohol per 100ml of breath in his system.

He pleaded guilty at Crawley Magistrates’ Court on January 8 and was disqualified from driving for 12 months.

Monks was also ordered to pay a £400 fine, £85 costs and a £40 victim surcharge.

A total of 182 arrests were made in Sussex in December as part of Surrey and Sussex Police’s Christmas 2015 campaign to crackdown on drink and drug-driving.
