Driver suffers '˜medical episode' in St Leonards bus crash

A bus went through a fence and up a bank in St Leonards after the driver suffered a medical episode last night (Monday, December 5), police said.

Emergency services were called to Old Church Road at around 8.40pm after the Stagecoach single-decker bus crash.

It appeared that the driver, a man aged 42, and who was treated by paramedics, may have lost control after experiencing some kind of medical episode, a police spokesman said.

A 17-year-old girl who was the only passenger aboard the bus was unhurt.

Police closed the road between its junctions with Telford Road and Quebec Road while the incident was dealt with and the bus recovered.
