Drivers charged after campaign

ANOTHER eight motorists have been charged with drink or drug-driving offences as part of Sussex Police’s Christmas campaign.

Each was arrested during December and released on bail, but charged when they returned to a police station.

They include Michael Moignard, 65, who was arrested at 1.40am on December 1 after he was found in a crashed car on the A21 at Hurst Green.

Moignard, of Grove Crescent, Croxley Green, Rickmansworth, was charged with drink-driving and bailed to appear at Hastings Magistrates’ Court on February 26.

Tyler Jones, 20, was arrested at 10.25pm on December 19 after officers became concerned about his driving and stopped the vehicle in High Street, Battle.

Jones, of Darvel Down, Netherfield, was charged with driving while unfit through drugs and failing to stop for an officer.

He was released on bail to appear at Hastings Magistrates’ Court on March 19.

The six other motorists hail from Hastings, Brighton, Lancing, Crowborough, Framfield and Pounds Green.

A total of 138 people have now been charged with offences as part of the December campaign.

16 drivers are still on bail.
