Drunk woman kicked officer

A DRUNK woman became aggressive and kicked a police officer after she was asked to leave a friend's home.

Sara Dedman, 28, was at a house in Battle Road, St Leonards, when she lost her temper because the owner wanted her to leave.

Police were called and she saw red.

At a court hearing on Monday, Jeremy King, prosecuting, said: “Police found numerous empty beer cans in the house and the owner told police he no longer wanted the defendant and this other man at his address.

“She refused to leave and became confrontational and aggressive.”

After Dedman was arrested she kicked out at one officer, hitting her in the leg.

She told police the next day she could not remember anything about her behaviour and only recalled waking up in a police cell.

Dedman, of Egerton Road, pleaded guilty to one charge of assaulting a police officer when she appeared in the dock on Monday.

Mark Glendenning, defending, said: “The defendant accepts that she has a problem with drink and has made attempts in the past to address it.”

Magistrates gave Dedman a six-month community order in which she must undergo treatment for her alcohol problem.

She was also fined £20 for breaching a conditional discharge and ordered to pay £20 compensation.
