Duke of Sussex might have visited this stunning seaside home in Bognor Regis with Princess Diana '“ now on the market for £1.3m

It is not every day that you can say your home may have been visited by Diana Princess of Wales, but for the owners of 6 Arun Way the possibility is very likely.

Roger and Christina Sheppard bought the home in 1994 from Raine Spencer, who was married to Princess Diana’s father the Earl of Spencer.

“It was owned by him,” Christina said. “He lived next door and bought this house for guests and the staff to stay in.

“We don’t know for a fact if Diana ever stayed here but next door found some photos in their loft of the young Princes (William and Harry) playing in the swimming pool.”

The couple moved from Fleet and put their former property on the market after falling in love with Arun Way’s sea views and arch windows.

| The Duke and Duchess of Sussex - Prince Harry and Meghan - have announced they are visiting East and West Sussex next week and Her Majesty’s Lord-Lieutenant for West Sussex has said she is ‘thrilled’ that they will be making their first visit to the region |

“The view really does have the wow factor,” Christina said.

Moving to Sussex from Hampshire the couple knew people that lived on the Aldwick Bay Estate so knew they liked the area and when the home was put on the market just had a look to see what it was like.

When they moved in Christina explained that they replaced all the windows and just made superficial changes to the decor which she commented was previously ‘very opulent’.

She feels that the house is suitable for a couple or family with enough rooms for children and any guests or is an ideal second home.

The house has a light and airy feel to it with the large arch windows bringing the view inside.

Upon the first floor is the balcony with panoramic views out to the sea and along the coastline around to Pagham and Selsey.

Here you can also admire the enclosed garden with lawn and the purpose built summer house with its double glazed French doors with matching flank panels, vaulted ceiling and a fitted bench seat. Next to this is a covered terrace perfect for alfresco dining.

“People who have come to visit recently have said that it is like being abroad with this weather,” said Christina.

“You can sit out in the garden and enjoy the space here or if you step out the back gate you are on the shingle enjoying the beach.”

In the far corner of the garden is the former boat house which provides a useful store.

For people who enjoy an active social life the local area has loads of offer.

“We are members at Goodwood for the horse racing and have been members of Fontwell racecourse,” explained Christina. “There is the theatre and loads of places to eat out.

“When people come to have a look around I rave about the area and everyone asks me why we are moving.

“Sussex country by the sea you really can’t beat it. It is such a special part of the world.

“We have spent 24 wonderful years here.”

While it is with a heavy heart that the Sheppards are moving Christina admitted that it is time for a new adventure and that they hope to enjoy a number of different sea views both here in the UK and abroad.
