Durrington Festival mix-up but Hollywood day still on

A MIX-up resulted in the launch event of Durrington Festival not going ahead.

The week-long festival was due to be officially launched on Saturday, June 6, with a family fun day at the Lamb Pub in Salvington Road.

But despite the festival organisers believing the event would go ahead, the landlord of the pub said he knew nothing about it.

Peter Bloxham, chairman of the Durrington Festival organising committee, said: "We are not at all happy and very disappointed the launch didn't happen. We hope everything else goes to plan now.

"The committee do not organise all the events on the festival timetable so we are at the mercy of other people. And when things go wrong it reflects badly on us."

This isn't the only set-back for festival organisers '” bands have pulled out of this Saturday's village fayre and have had to be replaced and events taking place during the week at Durrington Library, Salvington Road, have been scraped.

It is hoped the Hollywood-themed village fayre at Pond Lane park on Saturday, June 14, will go without a hitch.
