Police are appealing for information following the armed robbery at McColl’s in Manor Parade, Salvington Road, Durrington, yesterday afternoon.
Officers were called to shop shortly after 4.30pm.
A man had entered the shop, wearing all black with his face covered by a balaclava, threatened the shop worker with a knife and demanded she hand over money.
He took money from a till and left on an old children’s bike towards Salvington Road and into Pond Lane.
Detective Sergeant Simon Smith said: “Thankfully the shop worker wasn’t hurt but extremely shaken by what happened. A witness saw the man leaving the shop and was able to describe him as white, between 35 and 40, around 5ft 8ins with thick dark hair cut into a bowl cut. He was wearing a black sweatshirt and joggers.
“Anyone with information or saw the man cycling away in the area is asked to contact police on 101 or email [email protected] quoting serial 1106 of 12/03. Alternatively contact Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.”
