Durrington shop robbed at knifepoint

A SHOP worker was left ‘extremely shaken’ after a man robbed a Durrington convenience store at knifepoint.

Police are appealing for information following the armed robbery at McColl’s in Manor Parade, Salvington Road, Durrington, yesterday afternoon.

Officers were called to shop shortly after 4.30pm.

A man had entered the shop, wearing all black with his face covered by a balaclava, threatened the shop worker with a knife and demanded she hand over money.

He took money from a till and left on an old children’s bike towards Salvington Road and into Pond Lane.

Detective Sergeant Simon Smith said: “Thankfully the shop worker wasn’t hurt but extremely shaken by what happened. A witness saw the man leaving the shop and was able to describe him as white, between 35 and 40, around 5ft 8ins with thick dark hair cut into a bowl cut. He was wearing a black sweatshirt and joggers.

“Anyone with information or saw the man cycling away in the area is asked to contact police on 101 or email [email protected] quoting serial 1106 of 12/03. Alternatively contact Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.”
