Early years pupils plan wedding in Findon Valley church

Early years pupils at Vale School in Findon Valley have been exploring texts written by popular children’s author Julia Donaldson.

One of the focus texts was The Scarecrow’s Wedding, a rhyming story in which Betty O’Barley and Harry O’Hay are planning the perfect wedding but wicked scarecrow Reginald Rake has other ideas and almost ruins their big day.

The children helped to plan their own wedding, at All Saints’ Church, Findon Valley.

Sarah Blomfield, communications officer, said: “The children came to school dressed in party clothes for the wedding and all the staff had their hats ready.

“The children walked to the church for the wedding of Archie Edwards and Sophie Hennings. On returning from the church, the children had a reception with wedding cake and a first dance in the school hall.”
