HALLAND RESIDENTS MEETING: A meeting is to be held for the residents of Halland to at 7.30pm on Tuesday May 10 in the Black Lion, Halland to discuss the housing plans for Halland Village. Cllrs Ann Newton and Sue Stedman will be there to provide the residents of the village with details of the proposals.

SHOW SOCIETY: The next event hosted by the society will be an illustrated talk by Richard Ramsey from Withypitts Dahlias. It will take place in the village hall on Friday May 13 at 7.30pm. Entry is £1 for society members and £2 for non-members. Refreshments will be available and there will be a raffle. Plants will also be available to purchase.

VILLAGE OF SANCTUARY: The next event, Travelling to Sanctuary, will take place in the village hall tomorrow (Saturday) from 3pm to 5pm. Come for afternoon tea (sandwiches, cakes and scones) and hear a talk by Andy Barnes about refugees’ stories. Tea for you, donations for the cause. For more information contact [email protected]

PRESERVATION SOCIETY: East Hoathly and District Preservation Society presents: Backstage at Farley Farm House by Tony Penrose. A behind the scenes look at the creation of the Lee Miller Archive, which houses more than 60,000 negatives of Lee Miller’s work, 10,000 vintage prints plus manuscripts and ephemera. Farley Farm House has become a museum from which the archive produces a constant stream of books, films and exhibitions. It is also the human and practical face of running what has become one of the most internationally significant private collections of photography and fine art. Tony is a film maker, photographer, author, artist, photo curator, co-founder of the Lee Miller Archives and The Penrose Collection. An accredited NADFAS lecturer, he has also lectured for institutions such as the V&A, Tate Britain, Scottish National Gallery of Modern Art, San Francisco Museum of Modern Art, Philadelphia Museum of Art, Museu Picasso Barcelona, Museum Ludwig and The Art Gallery of Ontario. East Hoathly Village Hall, Friday May 20 at 7.30pm. Admission is free to members and guests welcome at £3 admission charge.
