East Preston man arrested over illegal tasers seized at Ford

TWO powerful taser stun guns have been seized by police in a raid on a business unit at Ford.

Officers from the Sussex Police Serious Organised Crime Unit (SOCU) executed search warrants at a private address in Sea Road, East Preston and at a business unit on the Rudford Industrial Estate at Ford.

During the search at Ford, on Wednesday, May 1, detectives found the tasers, disguised as torches, in a car. A further 13, which had been hidden in the suspended ceiling of the unit, were also discovered.

And after finding a quantity of counterfeit goods, including perfume, watches, clothing, footwear, sunglasses, and a large selection of illegal large Chinese fireworks which were not stored safely, the officers contacted West Sussex Trading Standards, who are now investgating those matters.

A 29-year old East Preston man was arrested at the unit on suspicion of importation and possession of the stun guns, which are prohibited weapons. He was later released on police bail until September 25, while inquiries continue.
