East Preston woman Sylvia Long still missing

FURTHER information has emerged in the hunt for missing East Preston woman, Sylvia Long, who disappeared from her East Preston home on Monday (September 17).

CCTV images from the One Stop Shop in North Lane, East Preston, show Sylvia leaving the shop at 12.30pm on Monday and turning left towards the beach.

As a result of the CCTV, the description of the clothing that she was initially reported in has been changed. In the shop she was wearing black trousers, black shoes and appears to be wearing a buttoned up light cream or off white long-sleeved cardigan. Underneath the cardigan is a very light blue blouse and she was carrying a mid to dark green canvas shopping bag.

Inspector Antony Leadbeatter said: “It is now well over 24 hours since Sylvia left her home in Roundstone Drive and as the hours pass, we are obviously becoming increasingly concerned for her welfare. She was due to attend a doctor’s appointment at the Willow Green Surgery at 2pm today, but did not show up there.

“We have a significant number of officers out looking for her and I would urge anyone in the Littlehampton area to check their gardens, sheds, garages or any other place where she might have wandered to find shelter. Last night was wet and tonight temperatures are forecast to tumble after sunset and we really do want to find her so that she doesn’t have to endure another night outdoors.

“If you have seen her or come across her, please call us on 101 quoting serial 1514 of 17/09. If she is in danger or in need of medical attention, don’t hesitate to dial 999 immediately.”
