Thos Birch Libations Company Ltd, also known as Birch Gin, from Wadhurst, has already scooped several international awards and Great Taste awards – but now they have added to their tally with an unusual win for a British company.
Their delicious high strength 40% ABV limoncello ‘Lemon Bomb’ has just won gold at the 2024 International Wine and Spirits Awards.
This is probably the most prestigious competition in the global drinks industry.
Lemon Bomb is hand made by husband and wife team Dawn and Justin Birch in their tiny distillery in East Sussex.
It has received rave reviews since they launched it in May 2023 and it is now confirmed as one of the best limoncellos in the world.
The judges said: “Vibrant lemon zest is balanced by a sweet citric character and an elegant chalkiness.
"Great harmony of flavour and texture, with impressive intensity.
"Fresh lemon notes cut through the thick palate adding a super energy to the lengthy finish.”
