East Sussex MPs talk A27 improvements

East Sussex MPs have met those in charge of the A27 to discuss how to improve congestion.

The Lewes MP Maria Caulfield and others held a meeting with Highways England, East Sussex County Council to get an update.

The MPs heard how results from the work currently being commissioned by Highways will report back in the autumn offering people a number of choices to be discussed as part of a public consultation.

Last year, the chancellor awarded £75 million to improve the A27 between Beddingham and Polegate.

“The future of the A27 is an important local issue,” Ms Caulfield said.

“The current situation acts as a barrier to economic growth in the area and many local people contact me to share their frustrations at the frequent congestion and danger on the road.”

“I continue to take a close interest in this matter and look forward to the results of the work in the autumn to improve this vital link in my constituency.”
