Mr Gulzar said, “I am always pleased to be filmed for television because once again people from further afield will be talking about Eastbourne.

“We all have to do our very best to encourage visitors to come to our wonderful town, and I saw this as another opportunity to promote Eastbourne.

“I have said from day one that the pier is not about me but it is about Eastbourne. It will become great again, and that is good for Eastbourne.

“The film producers were very patient and very kind. I think it is just supposed to be a reflection of my love for life and my love for work.”

Mr Gulzar said he is pleased with progress being made on the pier, despite the cold weather, and he is very optimistic for the summer months.

“My team and I know that this is going to be a very important year for Eastbourne Pier. We are keen to increase the footfall and welcome more people onto the pier.

“I am working seven days a week, and so too are my staff. I am very happy, it already looks so much better, but there is more to be done, we all know that.”
