Scouts from the Eastbourne District Scout Association celebrated St George’s Day last week with a parade in front of patriotic crowds.
The youngsters proudly waved flags as they walked through the Eastbourne bandstand on Thursday, April 23. Other establishments in the town also marked the historic event, with The Langham Hotel and The Lansdowne Hotel hosting traditional lunches and teas. The Hurst Arms Pub also invited residents to celebrate the occasion with a barbecue and live music. St George’s Day is celebrated every year on April 23 in honour of St George, the patron saint of England. A story dating back to the 6th century tells that he slew a dragon.
