Eastbourne woman injured after dog attack

A woman was left injured and shaken after she and her pet were attacked by another dog in Eastbourne yesterday (Monday).

Debra Cullen was walking her dog Pixie in Holly Place at around 9am when they were both attacked by a grey mongrel which was with its owner but not on a lead.

Debra’s husband Keith said it is not the first time it has happened and people should make sure they can control their dogs if they are not on a lead.

The female who owns this dog had no control over her animal and my wife had to pick our small dog up while this grey mongrel was jumping up at my wife still trying to attack our dog,” said Mr Cullen.

“Needless to say both my wife and dog were very shaken up and covered in mud.

“All my wife got from this woman was, ‘I’m sorry, I’m sorry’, not ‘Are you both ok or are you hurt?’

“This is all too common in Hampden Park where owners do not have control of their dogs as they are not on leads.

People should be aware it is illegal not to have a dog on a lead if it attacks another dog or person.”
