Eclectic evening of folk

Arundel’s Willows Folk Club is set for another eclectic and varied evening of entertainment on Wednesday, August 3 when they present a Super Showcase Special evening, this time featuring four fine female artists each performing a 20-minute set.

Chris Davis, club spokesman, said: “Jasmin Goddard is one of the most popular regular performers at the Willows and other local music venues. In just a couple of years she has established herself as a talented songwriter with a gift for memorable melodies and inventive lyrics, and delivers these with a graceful charm and lovely singing voice.

“Jules Winchester is an acoustic superstar in the making, with powerful, melodic vocals, a skilful guitar style, and armed with a treasure-trove of great soul-touching songs with a strong contemporary country flavour.

“Claire Booth is known across the south coast for the fantastic music that she makes - achingly beautiful vocals and a fine selection of songs, a mixture of covers and self-penned material. It’s not difficult to see why she has such a strong fan following!

“Last but definitely not least, Judith Greenfield is another hugely-popular entertainer and singer locally, with a strong comic flavour to a lot of her songs, as well as a flair for singing skiffle (a founder member of local skiffle band Sometimes They Come Back), blues and more. Judith will be joined for this appearance by guitarist and fellow skiffle band member Will Warman.

“Entrance for this exciting evening on Wednesday 3rd August is just £2. The Willows Folk Club first opened its doors to the public more than 35 years ago, and now meets every Wednesday at 8pm in the function room of Arundel Football Club, Mill Road, Arundel, situated to the rear of the large public car park opposite Arundel Castle.”
