Eclectic Littlehampton display remembers a bygone era

SHE is better known for her eclectic window displays in Norfolk Road, Littlehampton.

But now, artist Jan Bennett is bringing her touch of quirky magic to the town’s museum in her new exhibition.

Jan opened her latest batch of work, entitled Street Influence, at the museum, in Church Street, on Wednesday (May 21).

Everything from paintings of seaside sandcastles, children climbing trees and playing on The Green have been featured.

Jan said the paintings on display are like ‘a series of snapshots – they fondly reflect the people and places’ in Littlehampton that are long gone but not forgotten.

Councillor Malcolm Belchamber, chairman of the Littlehampton Town Council’s community resources committee, said: “Jan’s paintings give us a truly unique perspective of Littlehampton.

“It is a fascinating way of looking back at our town’s past.”

The exhibition will run until Friday, July 18, in the museum’s Community Gallery.
