Education chief visits 1066 Country to speak about college

A political heavy-weight was in Hastings this week to talk about education.

Conservative David Willetts, the shadow minister for universities and skills, is known as 'the brains of the Conservative Party'.

He visited 1066 Country to rally support for his colleague, Hastings hopeful Amber Rudd.

Mr Willetts spoke of how important providing better education for children is in tackling unemployment. He said: "The new Sussex Coast College is a great addition to the town.

"I know the teachers and staff will benefit from Conservative plans to strengthen their freedom from Whitehall and above all, the young people of Hastings would benefit from the extra apprenticeships and training places we would create."

Ms Rudd said: "Our young people deserve a future."
