BEACON Community College in Crowborough celebrated another successful year with an A Level pass rate of 98 per cent.

The college is justifiably proud of its continuing achievements from its comprehensive intake.

The Assistant Principal, Steve Baker, commented that he was “really pleased to see so many students of all abilities succeeding beyond their expectations.

“These results are the result of enormous efforts on the part of the staff and the students.”

The percentage of students achieving A*-C was a really impressive 77 per cent, and 20 per cent of students got at least two A grades.

Amongst these, special congratulations go to top achievers Emma Bennett (A* A* A), Adam Drew (A* A* A), Peter Holland (A* A* A*), Alice Morrell (A* A A), Amy Sarjeant (A* A A) and Miranda Stocks (A* A* A).

The results will mean that Beacon students progress to many of the best universities in the country this year.

Two of its students this year were successful candidates at Oxbridge - Adam Drew will be going to study Natural Sciences at Peterhouse College, Cambridge, and Peter Holland chose instead to take up a place at Imperial College in London on the prestigious Physics course.

Some subjects really stood out in these results. In Maths, more than 75 per cent achieved A* to B. In Art and Design 75 per cent, in French 100 per cent and in Sport 80 per cent.

Students studying the college’s various BTECs achieved outstanding results with 15 students getting double As.
