Congratulations are richly deserved

FOR the fifth year running, BHASVIC students have achieved excellent results at A Level.

Some 800 students sat A Level examinations in June, an outstanding 98 per cent of students passed overall and 59 per cent have achieved the top A*, A and B grades.

An exceptionally high number of 24 subjects (out of 44) achieved 100 per cent pass rates. More than 120 students gained 3 or more A grades with 15 students achieving four A grades or more.

Twenty-four students who were awarded conditional places at Oxford or Cambridge have achieved the top grades they needed and are on their way and include two from the Lewes area: Michael Frost (ex-Lewes Priory) and Viv Yang (ex-Lewes Priory).

Twenty-one students achieved three or more A grades at A Level from the Lewes area: Dominic Burns (ex-Lewes Old Grammar); Elizabeth Dwyer (ex-Lewes Priory); Nicholas Evans (ex-Lewes Priory); Joseph Eyles (ex-Lewes Priory); Aamena Fazil (ex-Lewes Priory); Steffan Flowers (ex-Lewes Priory); Michael Frost (ex-Lewes Priory); Jack Ghaleb (ex-Lewes Priory); Philip Grove (ex-Lewes Priory); Hannah Kirk-Evans (ex-Lewes Priory); Burhan Lowe (ex-Lewes Priory); Dan Marshall (ex-Lewes Priory); Lydia Powell (ex-Lewes Priory); Jeanne Robertson (ex-Lewes Priory); James Scott (ex-Lewes Priory); George Thurley (ex-Lewes Priory); Viv Yang (ex-Lewes Priory); Joanna Blee (ex-Ringmer); Tom Burnham (ex-Ringmer); Jennifer Roberts (ex-Ringmer); Colette Blackman (ex-Seaford Head).

Students taking AS Levels in 2011 also achieved excellent results. Nine hundred students took one or more AS Levels at BHASVIC this summer. Just under 50 per cent of all AS students achieved A and B grades; 110 students achieved three or more A grades and the overall AS Level pass rate was 92 per cent.

BHASVIC prides itself on being ‘open access’ – prospective students can study A Levels there if they have achieved five or more grade Cs or above at GCSE.

Chris Thomson, BHASVIC’s Principal, said: “Yet again, BHASVIC students have achieved outstanding results and I would like to congratulate everyone involved: schools, parents and above all our excellent staff and students.

“Many of our students have achieved astonishing results. Andrea Chlebikova achieved seven A* grades at A Level and lots of her peers were awarded four or five A grades and will be reaping the rewards of their success as they move on to top universities in September.”
