Children from Holy Cross School in Uckfield, were escorted back to school by two very special guests after their Easter service on Thursday (April 3).

Pupils were delighted when donkeys Freddie and Millie, from Sussex Horse Rescue met them from their Easter service and walked with them back to school.

Donkeys from the rescue centre attend the celebration every year.

Staff said the service at Holy Cross Church was well attended by families and governors from Holy Cross School.

A spokesman for the school said the children said thank you to the donkeys by feeding them carrots.

The spokesman said: “The children showed their gratitude by feeding donkeys Freddie and Millie lots of carrots, which they really enjoyed.

“Staff at Holy Cross would like to thank the Sussex Horse Rescue volunteers for always making their annual worship so special.”
