New Year courses for Heathfield

A new series of adult education courses will be available in Heathfield from January.

ACRES - the Adult College for Rural East Sussex based in Uckfield - is aiming to improve the adult learning provision in Heathfield. The current ACRES brochure has prioritised the town by offering a wide range of courses, largely from the Community College. The College website has a link:

Courses co-ordinator Catherine Collingwood says there are many courses for beginners and she is also working to set up daytime courses in other venues that might prove suitable for people in the town. A main focus is basic computer skills for the older learner but she is also looking at ancestry, gentle exercise and any other course people show an interest in.

She added: “As with anything the courses can only run with sufficient numbers.”

So she is liaising with members of Heathfield and Waldron Parish Council to ensure enough information is provided for people to find out what is available.

So far, courses running in Heathfield from January include art history - continuation; an all ability art workshop; bring your own laptop - Horam; computer for beginners; crochet for beginners; eat well and feel good; beginners’ guitar; copperfoil s tained glass for beginners; introduction to counselling and interpersonal skills; introduction to Sage accounting; mask making for beginners; sewing for beginners; soft furnishing and upholstery - continuation and yoga for beginners and improvers.
