Police have released an efit of a man they would like to speak to in connection with a reported rape in Newhaven.

Police say the victim told officers she was awaiting a delivery at an address in Western Road on Friday, March 3, when a man in a fluorescent jacket knocked on the door at around 1.55pm.

The suspect walked in and shut the door before attacking her, say police. He has been described as white, around 5ft 10in and of slim build with short dark hair.

Detective Constable Jessica Langlands said: “There have been no further reports of similar incidents. We have carried out local house to house enquiries and are supporting the victim as we look to establish the full circumstances.

“We would like to hear from anyone else who was in the area and who saw anything suspicious.

“Witnesses can report online quoting reference 737 of 03/03.”
