Egerton Park goes green

THE Friends of Egerton Park are building on the success of last year's inaugural Green Day in the park.

They are keeping their fingers crossed that Saturday, June 23 will be fine and have completed preparations which include included improved attractions.

The event will be opened at 10am by Shadow Environment Minister and town MP Gregory Barker on behalf of the Friends of Egerton Park and Sure-Start.

Sure Start will be operating a family fun day in support of the event.

Community Chef Robin Von Creveld will be cooking eggs, locally-caught fish and vegetables in a variety of tasty, mouth-watering ways.

Hot and cold beverages will be available from the outdoor bowls club. The Smoothie Bike will be around to sell fruit drinks.

All the major political parties will be represented and will be demonstrating their Green credentials.

The compost doctor will be on hand to assist on composting queries.

Rother officers will be there to inform the public on the progress of the authority's recycling programme. East Sussex County Council rubbish management bus will augment the message about being green.

Plant stalls and information about Bexhill Farmers' Market and the new Little Common Farmers' Market will be available.
