Elderly man burnt in bungalow blaze

An elderly man was taken to hospital with minor burns after a fire at a North Bersted bungalow.

The man was escorted from the Meadow Way property and taken by ambulance to St Richard's Hospital for treatment.

A fifth of the terraced bungalow was damaged by the accidental blaze which started just before 1am on Sunday.

Around 30 firefighters from Bognor Regis, Chichester and Arundel attended the scene at the peak of the incident.

They cut away and damped down the areas affected by the flames.

They stayed at the scene until almost 2.30am.
